Dental Implants

Dental implants are the next best thing to healthy, natural teeth, retaining your natural face shape, and smile. Protecting healthy bone and keeping your teeth in your mouth, not in a cup, allows you to speak easily, eat your favorite foods, and protect your healthy teeth. A dental implant is the strongest device available to support replacement teeth, is not vulnerable to cavities, allowing your replacement teeth to feel, look and work naturally. Proven safe and effective at replacing missing teeth, contemporary dental implants have been in use for more than 30 years.  Your implant team of restorative dentist, oral & maxillofacial surgeon, dental lab, and support staff have years of training, meet regularly to embrace new technology, maintain a high level of communication between our offices, all to provide you with a highly skilled and coordinated team commitment to providing you with the most excellent care in a comfortable up-to-date environment.

Dental implants are a secure and appealing solution to replace missing or extracted teeth. They are better than other alternatives like bridges because no additional teeth need to be altered to place the new tooth.

The entire implant process is performed over the course of a few months. The first part of the process is to install the implant itself, where a titanium root or implant is placed into the jaw bone. Often a failed tooth can be removed and implant place at the same appointment.  Multiple implants can be placed at once if necessary. Temporary teeth can often be attached to the implant the same day.

The implant must be allowed about 3-6 months to heal, and during this time the jaw bone will form around the implant in a process called osseointegration. During this healing time you can have temporary teeth installed so that you can eat and speak normally and maintain a proper aesthetic appearance for your smile.

After the implant has healed it is time to place an abutment and the finished crown on the implant. The abutment serves as the base for your new tooth. A digital or conventional impression of the implant will be made, and is used to design and create your finished restoration. Once the finished restoration is made you can return to our office to attach the finished restoration to your implant. Your smile will look natural, and after a short period of getting used to the implant restoration it will feel just like one of your own teeth.
